A produção teórica tem se tornado ampla no que se refere às discussões sobre o processo de inclusão de crianças com alguma deficiência. Por outro lado, o fazer pedagógico ainda se mostra incipiente no desenvolvimento de práticas inclusivas com tais crianças. Concordando com o que diz David Rodrigues, também entendemos que o discurso sobre inclusão tem sido rapidamente absorvido pelos professores, mas as suas práticas ainda têm se modificado de forma muito lenta. Considerando essa lacuna, o projeto “Inclusão: práticas pedagógicas, aquisição do sistema de escrita e outras aprendizagens” busca acompanhar, analisar, intervir e orientar práticas pedagógicas de professores da Educação infantil e/ou do ensino fundamental I que atuam com crianças com deficiência. O acompanhamento, aliado às intervenções pedagógicas e aos cursos de formação continuada, é a principal ação do projeto e busca a formação do professor da educação básica e do aluno de licenciaturas, no que tange à compreensão sobre a inclusão, processos de aprendizagem e a elaboração de práticas pedagógicas que favoreçam a aprendizagem da criança com deficiência.
Este livro é uma expressão das experiências realizadas ao longo do projeto extensionista Inclusão: Práticas pedagógicas, aquisição do sistema de escrita e outras aprendizagens, orienta-se pelo modelo de pesquisa-ação e busca observar, analisar e reelaborar práticas pedagógicas desenvolvidas com alunos com deficiência. Tem como foco desenvolver um processo de formação inicial e continuada com professores da educação básica e alunos de graduação das licenciaturas, particularmente, da Pedagogia.
